Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for individuals with the desire to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to train as an ‘Upholstery Sewing Machinist’ as part of our fast-paced manufacturing teams on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to start building a rewarding career in a trainee role, where you will earn as you learn. You will be trained using a variety of machinery producing items of soft furnishings including sofas, chairs and beds working with a vast range of materials and designs. The 9-month (approx.) course is ideal for those that enjoy practical, hands-on work with a good eye for detail. You’ll have the drive and initiative to succeed with the enthusiasm to learn and enhance your current skillset.

What You'll be Doing

  • You will be trained using a variety of machinery producing items of soft furnishings including sofas, chairs and beds working with a vast range of materials and designs. The 9-month (approx.) course is ideal for those that enjoy practical, hands-on work with a good eye for detail. You’ll have the drive and initiative to succeed with the enthusiasm to learn and enhance your current skillset.

What We're Looking For

  • Essential
    • Enthusiastic and hard working with the drive and determination to train and become a successful upholstery sewing machinist producing high quality workmanship and products.
    • Have a positive and proactive attitude.
    • Be an excellent communicator with the desire to succeed and a willingness to learn, demonstrating attention to detail.

    Desirable

    • An experienced lockstitch machinist (any industry) and have a clear understanding of how an industrial lockstitch machine operates.
    • Experience of overlock and twin needle machinery.
    • Experience of a PBR system.
    • A basic knowledge of Health and Safety procedures in the workplace.
