What You'll be Doing

The role of the PQI is to inspect components during the sewing process. Identifying defects and provide guidance and training to the sewing team in producing a cover to specified quality standards. This role will be across all sites reporting to the Quality Manager.

  • Working within the sewing department to monitor the quality of products at key stages, before it is handed over for upholstering.
  • Improving overall understanding and performance of Whitemeadow products throughout the sewing departments in each site.
  • Identifying non-conformances and ensuring that individuals responsible rectify their own non-conformances before it moves to the next stage.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and training to members of the team when required.
  • Identifying members of staff who need improvement and being responsible for their training requirements including updating training records.
  • Where applicable carry out machine tests and provide feedback on general suitability of candidates.
  • Carry out ongoing progress assessments during probation periods, contributing to the probationary assessments, providing insight and feedback.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and training to the ‘End of Line’ Inspectors on quality standards when required, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of the products and associated non-conformances.
  • Reporting inspection and non-conformance performance rates on a regular basis to key stakeholders.
  • Regularly meeting with key stakeholders to share non-conformance information and improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with the customer facing teams to ensure that replacement and VIP orders are personally inspected prior to despatch.
  • Work with the Quality and Development teams to ensure new product introductions are transitioned into the production cycle effectively.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be experienced in furniture upholstery manufacturing, be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of quality and show a basic understanding of statistics production and how they translate into the workplace. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate confidently, train other members of staff and work within a small team to manage workloads as well as managing their individual workload.
